Introduction
Every resident of India is given an Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identity number issued by the Government of India’s Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Aadhaar Card is also a biometric documentary proof that enters your data into a database maintained by the government. An Aadhaar card is linked with the Income Tax Department’s Permanent Account Number (PAN) and voluntarily with Election ID.
As a biometric identity card, Aadhaar is used for transferring various government welfare scheme benefits to genuine beneficiaries. Every resident of India is eligible to apply for an Aadhaar number under the Aadhaar Act 2016.
A person is considered a resident if they have lived in India for at least 182 days in the year before the date of their application for enrolment. If you meet this requirement, you must provide specific documentation to prove your eligibility for Aadhaar.
The process is pretty simple, and there aren’t many documents that need to be provided at UIDAI-authorised centres.
There are four categories of documentation required for an Aadhaar card. You must present your identity proof, address proof, date of birth, and proof of relationship.

Address proof documents required for Aadhaar enrolment

- A bank statement with a photograph.
- A valid passport.
- Ration card.

Children’s Baal Aadhaar are distinct from those of adults. The enrolment procedure can be completed with less paperwork. It contains:

However, children above the age of five must present some additional documentation.
Documents required for an Aadhaar card for a Child Above 5 Years
Children older than five are mature enough to provide their biometrics. As a result, the representative at the enrolling office collects the following documents in addition to the biometrics of their fingers and irises.
